Yesterday, January 12, 2019 Angelina and I had the privilege of visiting the Palace of Versailles. What a beautiful place to live! Louis the XIII built the original palace (much smaller), then Louis XIV established the city of Versailles for the aristocracy and built the palace as it appears today over a period of fifty years. It was the royal residence from 1682-1789, with the last King Louis XVI, who was ousted during the French Revolution (the first one). A colorful history for this palace, and I really loved the Room of Mirrors, a ballroom overlooking the gardens. It is the photo with the glass chandeliers, it was easy to create an image of how a grand ball would take place there. I also admired the quarters for the eight daughters, and especially the library and music rooms, complete with a harp. The gardens are the largest outdoor sculpture gardens in the world. It was a cold and a bit rainy, thus the sculptures were covered in bags for the Winter. The gardens, fountains and French designs were still gorgeous! Angelina saw a swan, so was very pleased. I highly recommend a visit to Versailles. -Mona

I loved visiting the Palace of Versailles yesterday and seeing where Marie Antoinette lived and enjoyed her spacious palace. I could see myself living there and having a room for different activities. If only someone would build a palace for me, but I would appreciate not to be beheaded! I really loved all of the garden space, it would be so fun to play soccer on the fields beyond the castle. I loved the mirror room and would enjoy having a ball or banquet there. The views from the windows on all sides are quite beautiful and I would live there in a second! -Angelina
