University of Washington, Seattle

On Tuesday morning I was fortunate enough to take a tour of the University of Washington in Seattle. My mom and I had taken a virtual tour of the University online and one of my favorite parts about this school were the library and the cherry blossom trees. On the tour we were able to see the welcome building, the Quad, the Red square, a couple lecture halls, the Mary Gates building and many other places. This school is certainly going to be one of my choices for the future colleges I am applying to. I also love the city Seattle so I would be glad to study here for my undergrad degree in Marine Biology or General Bio. -Angelina

I was impressed with the University of Washington, Seattle, especially during cherry blossom season. It is a huge campus and all the individuals we met were helpful and friendly. Our tour guide, Thisby, was so enthusiastic and truly represented the best of what U.W. has to offer. I loved the library (it was in Harry Potter), the HUB (welcome center) & student union area, and the IMA (rec. center), Drumheller Fountain, and the four pillars (shown in the picture). The tradition is that as a Freshman you touch one of the four pillars; Loyalty, Industry, Faith and Efficiency and then when you graduate you touch one again after the ceremony. The four years in between you do not touch them. I appreciate that the campus is next Union Bay & Portage Bay, has a rowing team, and instead of tail gating, they sail gate before football games. Looks and sounds like an industrious and fun place to learn! -Mona
