On Wednesday, January 23, 2019, Angelina and I walked out to the Grande Be Island where the tomb of Francois-Rene Chateaubriand is. He was a writer, politician, diplomat and historian known for founding Romanticism in French Literature. Here are the quotes Angelina found of his:
An original writer is not one who imitates nobody, but one whom nobody can imitate.
You are not superior just because you see the world in an odious light.
One does not learn how to die by killing others.
We found many mussels, of which I gathered 12 and took home to cook. Angelina did much research on them, and decided that she did not want to eat one. In this case it was better for her, as the first one I ate (after a boil & a quick saute in butter) tasted good, then I was chewing sand & had to discard the rest. She studied the anatomy of a mussel and found that for such a small mollusk, it had many structures similar to our's. Including; a foot, heart and ganglia (which are their form of a brain), as well as a nervous system. After her research, she opted to not eat one, as she did not like the thought of eating a heart. My cooking experiment was unsuccessful, and I know that the price of 29.00 Euros per dozen of whatever is probably due to the fact that they eliminate all sand! Angelina found many oyster shells, and some Turban shells, a couple of beauties. I loved seeing the beach swimming pool or in French, "Piscine" that I am sure is full all Summer. Outside our apartment window was this plump and so cute turtle dove, so I took many photos of it. -Angelina & Mona
