The Great Barrier Reef

Sunday, the last day of September, 2018 we took a tour of Green Island and experienced the Great Barrier Reef! The boat ride was about 50 minutes from Cairns Fleet Reef Terminal and we chose to sit on the outside deck where we could feel the wind and mist from the wake of the boat. Once on shore we situated our personals in a day locker and embarked on yet another boat. This time it was a glass bottom boat and we saw many fish and four or so sea turtles along with giant oysters, coral and sea plants. We purchased underwater cameras and still have yet to develop those (maybe in Thailand) photos from our snorkeling adventure. The remainder of the tome we snorkeled, sun bathed and then hiked a bit. I highly recommend this tour, as being able to take a break on land, as opposed to spending the entire day rocking on a boat was quite pleasant. What a wonderful place to be, loved it!-Mona

The Great Barrier Reef was such an amazing experience and I would definitely do it again! Our tour came with the Glass Bottom Boat and the boat was an awesome way to see the fish that we could not swim to see some of them. We also saw turtles! I think we saw four in the water and one on the surface. It was a surprise because we didn´t think it came with our purchase. The Reef was the best part by far. It was my first time trying to use flippers. I am not that great but it helped me stay balanced when upright. Mom bought us each underwater cameras to use. I took advantage of that. When I saw a pretty fish I would dive underwater so that I could get the best picture. We saw so many beautiful fish, and I saw a small stingray. It was just swimming by. I love the Reef it was an amazing day. -Angelina
