On Sunday, January 20, 2019, Angelina and I explored the beaches from Saint Malo's, Plage de l'Eventail to Plage de Rochebonne. It was a bit gray and cold, but what wonders we found! Angelina and I found; limpets, muscles, bright pink seaweed, bull kelp, clams, snails, sea glass and one gorgeous scallop shell. Angelina gets to keep her one treasure...the tide was low so we walked out to Fort National (tours from April-November) as far as the locked gate. We watched an odd sport, go karts with sails on the beach, it looks really fun and saw some beautiful houses along the road next to the beach. I liked the name "Flying Dragon" it is part of the lore here, and are found on the man hole covers in the town. Love the beach life and all that goes with it; sand, shells, seaweed and people and doggies playing on the beach! I could definitely live here, it is so similar to Northern California. -Mona
I loved going down to the beach at low tides and discovering all the wonderful shells and seaweeds. This historical town is notorious as the home of the corsairs, French privateers and sometimes pirates. Three-fourths of the town was destroyed due to World War II bombing. Saint-Malo was the world's first large scale tidal plant, using flood and ebb tides to generate electricity. I can't wait to explore more with Mom and see the places in the book "All the Light We Cannot See". -Angelina
I just viewed the last 3 blogs. It looks like you are having a wonderful winter! I have to leave early this a.m. to get a haircut before work. We had a yummy meal w/ Mom, Dad and Jane last eve. Mother made tacos and apple pie. Then Chuck went home and I played a game of Quirkle w/ them. It was a fun evening. Little Oreo is so cute. He is like a tiny lamb. I am glad you are having fun exploring. Gotta get ready for my trip to Orland! Love you both, Chrissy.
