Yesterday, November 20, 2018 we set out to walk to the little chapel that is in the middle of the page. As it turned out, it belongs to a private family and was inaccessible. We had a furry friend, Angelina called Otto (our dog´s name) who followed us the entire walk. He even came into the restaurant as well & the owner did not fuss, he allowed him to stay. There are so many kitties throughout the island, and a woman we met yesterday said the government is helping with the spay and neuter program, but that it has lost speed (funding).
The day was gray but beautiful and the smell of fires burning in the fireplaces reminded me of home. When I would walk back from the beach and smell the fire Dad had set, a comforting smell in the Fall and Winter. Please continue to pray for the people displaced from the Camp Fire in CA, my brother and his wife are among them.
Angelina took a picture of the ferry that we will be on tomorrow, as we leave. We have truly enjoyed our time here, and it is one place I could certainly come back to. The chapel at the end of the pictures has a plaque dating 9991, and I admired the plates ensconced in the walls, and knew that Christina, my Sister would also appreciate them, as she collects vintage plates.
A bit more information about Skopelos.
Skopelos is also the name of the main port and the municipal center of the island. The other communities of the island are Glossa and Neo Klima. The geography of Skopelos includes two mountains over 500 meters; Delphi in the center of the island, and Palouki in the southeast. With an area of 96 km² Skopelos is slightly larger than Mykonos and Santorini. The nearest inhabited islands are Skiathos to the west and Alonissos to the east.
