Roma Durante La Notte

Yesterday, December 5, 2018 Angelina and I went to the Central Station to purchase tickets for the next part of our journey. So we practiced taking the metro, so that tomorrow it will be smooth sailing on our departure. We were impressed with the Central Station, it was well organized and had great shops and restaurants, plus clean bathrooms. We happened upon a good bookstore with a large selection of English books, so Angelina chose one by Fannie Flagg, The All Girls Filling Station, and I will read it after her. We then went to a place that Angelina found on our map called the ¨Gran Priorato Di Roma DellÓrdine Di Malta¨ which is a door that one looks through to see a view of Rome that is breathtaking. It is very hard to capture the view in a photo, but we did and it was also becoming dark at that point. After we looked at the open view from a park adjacent and found this fountain resembling the Mouth of Truth. Next, we walked to the ¨Campo De´Fiori¨ (field of flowers) that our host Fabrizio told us about. The statue of Giordano Bruno is found in this piazza. He was known as a heretic, because he contradicted the planetary constructs of the time and was burned at the stake. Here are some facts about him:

Giordano Bruno was an Italian Dominican friar, philosopher, mathematician, poet, and cosmological theorist. He is known for his cosmological theories, which conceptually extended the then-novel Copernican model.

1548-February 17, 1600

Time is the father of truth, its mother is our mind.

It may be you fear more to deliver judgment upon me than I fear judgment.

Time takes all and gives all.

I really appreciated seeing beautiful flowers in December, outside on the plaza and would love to give these to all our family and friends for the holidays! The evening was crisp and clear and we walked back to the apartment to enjoy a dinner with our host and his neighbor, Angela. The dinner was so good, pasta, mozzarella cheese, a fruit pie. We added zucchini and a fruit smoothie to the mix. Then we were delighted to watch a movie directed by our host, entitled ¨Naples The Echo of Silence¨ it was superb. He has directed three full length films and nine theater productions. We have been privileged to have met him and really admire his artistic abilities. Our art cinemas would benefit from showing his films! We thank him for being a gracious host, and for assisting us in navigating Rome. We are enthralled with this vibrant city!

I really loved going to the ¨Gran Priorato Di Roma DellÓrdine Di Malta¨ it was the one thing that we hadn´t seen yet that I had wanted to see. It was a bit far to walk so we took the Metro! It was officially my second time on the Metro besides taking it in Sydney. After the Metro ride we took a short walk to the ¨Gran Priorato Di Roma DellÓrdine Di Malta¨. We passed by a rose garden with all of the rose plants labeled. When we got there I thought the doors would be open to the public, I guess not. People were standing in a line and looking through the hole in the door. While we were waiting we thought how funny it was and ridiculous to stand and wait to look through a hole, but when we looked the view was quite spectacular. It was hard to take a picture so ours is a little dark it´s one of those things where you should see it in person. I liked seeing the the statue in Campo Di Fiore too. Just think... he was burned because he was right that the Earth orbited around the sun. Our second to last day was very cool. We also got to have dinner with our host and his very nice neighbor Angela. After dinner we watched a movie that our host made it was so good. I hope it gets into theaters all over the nation. It is a tragedy but really great. -Angelina
