The event of this year happened on September 26, 2021 as we attended my cousin's wedding. Angelina and I drove up to Red Feather Lakes (twice) and loved seeing our family again. Micheal Morris was married to Carter Jesness at Fox Acres in Red Feathers Lake, where Carter grew up. It was a perfect locale and the wedding was a weekend celebration of family, friends and love. Dan and Connie Morris are in the wedding photos above, and are the parents of Michael, one of the grooms. Danny is my first cousin, and his Mom, Ramona Morris is my Dad's sister. I am named after my Aunt Ramona and she and my Dad, Howard Sanborn both grew up in Red Feather Lakes too.
We took a drive to see the house they grew up in. It is now on the Shambhala Center land, but my grandfather built the home with his three boys; Don, Bob and Howard. Aunt Ramona probably helped too, as well as my grandmother, Neva Mae (Newell). Merle Leslie Sanborn was born in Longmont, Colorado and had a silver fox farm there on the property pictured above here. I thoroughly enjoyed walking around the area, and could imagine how pristine it must have been when my father was young. What a beautiful, majestic and natural place to grow up. It is no wonder that my Dad became a biologist.
The wedding was so meaningful, and the day was crystal clear on the golf course. Michael and Carter had a friend of Michael's perform the wedding, and she did a fantastic job of it, with sentiment and humor. The reception was an evening full of food, fun and dancing. Angelina and I had to drive home, so departed after dinner. Many toasts were given, and the grooms had to kiss after every glass clinking, so that was fun. We were so happy to share in this memorable occasion! -Mona
It was very fun to go and see where my Grandpa grew up. I loved the log house it was beautifully built. The scenery around it reminded me what it is to be a Coloradoan. Micheal and Carters wedding was lovely, I am so happy we made it. Everything was very classy and I loved that the wedding and reception were encompassed by the nature surrounding us. Fox Acres was a really luxurious place to stay. I also liked seeing the Indian Village and going to the Trading Post. It was a very fun couple of days! -Angelina
