Yesterday, with our tour guide, (Jeet), we saw the Delhi sights including this Qutab Minar. It is the second tallest minaret in the world made up of bricks. It is a 239.5 foot tall tapering tower with five storeys, with a 47 ft. base tapering to a 9 ft. at the top of the peak. Inside is a spiral staircase with 379 steps. Since December, 1981 due to an accident, the staircase is closed to the public. This tower has quite a history, but I was sad to learn that it was constructed with the remains of all the destroyed Hindu (and other types of) temples materials´. I took a picture of a Hindu God, Vishnu and her features have been defaced by the victors (Mughals and the British).
