This was a really amazing and elaborate Cathedral to visit and inside the stained glass windows were very pretty. I also liked the creche scene and the many chandeliers that brightened up the space and gave it a vibe of cheeriness. It is really an inspiration and is a happy monument for all to enjoy. -Angelina

Notre-Dame de Paris, also known as Notre-Dame Cathedral or simply Notre-Dame, is a medieval Catholic cathedral on the Ile de la Cite in the fourth arrondissement of Paris, France. The cathedral is widely considered to be one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture. The innovative use of the rib vault and flying buttress, the enormous and colorful rose windows, and the naturalism and abundance of its sculptural decoration all set it apart from earlier Romanesque architecture.

I have always admired the appearance of Notre-Dame from the outside, as the river and the gardens compliment the structure so completely. Inside, as in many of the large cathedrals, there are many side chapels in addition to the main alter and all are different and interesting. I truly appreciate the use of light in the design of this church. It has a warm feeling inside, not just due to the Christmas decorations, but from the plentiful layering of windows. The ceilings are no small feat, and have intricate patterns that draw the eyes up. I noticed the animal shapes extending out from the exterior walls, and found them similar to some on the South American cathedrals we have seen this year. The bell towers are so unique and have been a theme in Disney´s, The Hunchback of Notre-Dame. It was pleasing to see this magnificent building once again.-Mona
