Last night in Avignon we watched a Christmas Parade featuring a children´s drumming group, people on stilts donning white, glittering costumes of various identities and of course, a flying Santa suspended by a huge balloon, wow! The music box looked like a reindeer and piped out some cool music as well. The parade was an hour long beginning at the Cours J. Jaures and ending at the Place De L´Horloge, a very short distance. We followed along with the kids drumming, they were awesome! It was like nothing I have seen before, strange and wonderful. The plaza where the parade finished is visible from just outside our apartment door. The Horloge Square is the heart of the city with a carousel, ice skating rink, a cinema, many restaurants and cafes. It also has the Town Hall and Opera Theater, both from the 19th Century. We had honey crepes after the parade, yummy! -Mona
The Parade in Avignon was super duper new and exciting for me! I don´t remember ever going to a Parade before, I only have seen them on TV. I am super happy I got to see one, it was really different and interesting. The costumes were so cool and I loved all the whites with lights. The drummers were so perfect and to think that they´re the same age as me and can do drumming in unison fantastically. I loved their neon colors too and their bow ties. It was super fun to be at my first parade in France! -Angelina
