Angelina tried Cookies and Cream, Mochi, and it was really good. We walked around the area known as, One Nimman, in Chiang Mai. It was a lively Saturday night, and we happened upon a 7:00 light show on the clock tower. It was so colorful, and depicted life in Chiang Mai images; elephants, butterflies, fabric patterns, the red truck taxis, bicyclists, white doves and the jungle. It was a creative surprise in our evening! Ratri swasdi.

But wait! There's more... Having been a bhiksu for over twenty years, MOngkut set out to restore discipline and direction to the samgha after he became king. This endeavor led to the founding of a new ordination lineage called the Thammayut Nikaya The name is a Thai spelling for a Pali word meaning 'those who adhere to the dharma'. This reform movement set the tone for modern Theravada, not only in Thailand, but also elsewhere in Southeast Asia.
I bought a World Religions book at the Saturday library book sale yesterday. Under Thailand it says, "Two of the most important kings of nineteenth-century Siam were Mongkut and his son Chulalongkorn. Both were active in reforming the samgha. King Mongkut (t. 1824-51) is revered by Thais under the mane Rama IV and is known in the West as the king portrayed in "The King and I" - which has never been shown in Thailand because it portrays Mongkut in a disrespectful way." A tidbit of info for you!
The temple at the top of the mountain is amazing! Was the green one made of jade? And what is POO in Thailand? I am going to guess that it means recycled because I see it in front of some paper goods... Your condo looks safe and welcoming. We are back from P.G. and had a wonderful time. The weather, as it is in October, was the best it could possibly be. We had a good visit w/ Jane & Kent on the first evening at Fishwife. We saw Jane again at her home and ate in their beautiful dining room for lunch. We did some walking and it was fun. Pearl didn't like the sand so we high-tailed it…
