Monterey Memories

On June 28, 2021 Angelina and I drove to Monterey to spend a few days enjoying my hometown. We stayed at the Sea Breeze for a couple of nights, then moved across the street to the Monterey Peninsula Inn for the last evening. We visited Carmel Beach, Stevenson and the 17 Mile Drive, our home in Pebble Beach and the church of the Wayfarer in Carmel. Time has passed quickly, so many happy memories in all those places. We had a delicious dinner at the Fishwife and breakfast at First Awakenings, both in Pacific Grove. I showed Angelina my elementary school, Forest Grove one day as well. Twice we walked down to the tide pools from our hotel and explored the sea life there. Dad used to take us to the tide pools and teach us the names of everything from starfish to plankton, thank you Dad for spending time with us in our beautiful environment. I have learned the most from my parents, the best teachers of all. We went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium (the best in my opinion) and visited all the exhibits there. My favorites are always the sea otters and the jellies! One highlight for us was meeting my friend, Turi, her Mom and her son, Gunnar for dinner at Hula's Tikki Bar. We hadn't seen each other in 31 years. So many good times to remember from those days. Thank you Turi for meeting us, and treating us to dinner and awesome conversation. It was so pleasant to meet your son and to see your Mom again. You all got to meet Angelina too, she had fun. The trip was well worth all the driving, we loved seeing family and friends again. -Mona
