January 16, 2019 we visited the Musee de L'Orangerie in Paris for our last stop before heading home to pack. We again enjoyed our time with Rebecca as much as any masterpieces we viewed and experienced. Monet has always been one of my favorite artists, and my Dad is famous for painting replicas that appear in all our collections at home. The display is perfect with diffused light and set in a garden with 360 degree views. What a place to conclude our Paris visit! We parted with Becky at the Metro and it was a touch bittersweet, but we know that we will return to Paris again! -Mona
Here is some history on the museum:
The Musée de l'Orangerie is an art gallery of impressionist and post-impressionist paintings located in the west corner of the Tuileries Gardens next to the Place de la Concorde in Paris. The museum is most famous as the permanent home of eight large Water Lilies murals by Claude Monet, and also contains works by Paul Cézanne, Henri Matisse, Amedeo Modigliani, Pablo Picasso, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Henri Rousseau, Alfred Sisley, Chaim Soutine, Maurice Utrillo, and others.
I really was so amazed by Monet's Water Lilies and it was nice to take a seat and observe every brushstroke of his. I love each and every one. My favorite two slides are the ones with the drapey trees and the light purple colors are so pretty. I am so glad we got to visit this great museum and observe artwork of one of the greatest impressionist painters. -Angelina
So cool you got to see The Water Lilies!
Dad painted one like the last 2 you posted. I believe Kathy Hunt & Ken Beckman received it. They are both gone now; so, somewhere somebody is enjoying that painting!
The water lily paintings are amazing! TY for sharing!
