Today November 16, 2018, Angelina and I rented a car (for the first time on our trip) and drove out of Skopelos around the island as far as Ghlosa. The turn off to the Agios Ioannis was clearly marked as the Mamma Mia chapel, and the road reminded me of the roads in Big Sur, very narrow with huge drop offs. We made it and the views were something to behold. The steps were a challenge for me, as I do not like heights, but it was worth it! We were not able to access the main chapel, as it was locked, but we entered the ante chamber and signed the guest book. It was so reminiscent of the area I grew up in (Monterey, CA) that I felt right at home, what a spectacular island.-Mona
Wow! I love Skopelos! Today was a great day to visit the Mamma Mia chapel, Agios Ioannis. I have always loved the Mamma Mia movie and every location they filmed it at! Today we visited one on the many locations that were in the movie. Without the movie we probably would´ve never even heard of Skopelos or the beautiful chapel on the sea. It was truly breathtaking to drive along the coast and see the waves lapping against the rocks. This is a really peaceful place, it reminds me a bit of Colorado and it´s good to be back in the mountains. The climb up was a little scary but there is an amazing view once you get to the top. It is so cool to think about how many people came before you and what they thought about it too. -Angelina
