September 17, 2018 we finally arrived at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. We made it in time for the koala meet and greet, and got to pat a koala! Angelina was expecting softer fur, but still thinks they are the cutest, most interesting marsupials. We ventured next to the kangaroos, and actually fed them by hand, and pet them too. What an awesome habitat they lived in, it was a huge open area with plenty of room to jump about in. Unbelievable that a joey can fit in the pouch when they are that big! We then went to the farm area and saw many animals from guinea pigs to goats, sheep, pigs, chickens and a Border Collie (that reminded us of our dog, Shadow).-Mona
I loved seeing the koalas and I took two pictures that are in this section. The habitats are really nice, but it´s sad to see the birds in cages. They deserve to be free. I also really liked feeding the kangaroos which was super awesome, and you could pet them. I am now sure I want to have a career that has to do with animals. As long as I´m around them. Moreover, I thought that it was really exciting to see them because they are now going extinct because there is a type of cancer on the Tasmanian devil´s noses that is transmitted through biting which they do a lot. We took videos of one of them growling and like patting or scratching their neck. We figured that it was mad, but I still think their sweet. They are like a mix between a small dog and a rat. We also saw a wombat which is adorable. I wish they were domestic animals so I could have one as a pet, but at least I got to see it twice! Additionally, I was so thrilled to see a platypus again and had my heart set on getting good pictures of it. I did take many pictures and only a few turned out. They are on here for you all to see! The last two pictures are at the end of our journey through the sanctuary and I loved all of the sanctuary. Especially petting a koala. Angelina
As you can see, many others have enjoyed the sanctuary over the years. Angelina had her best happy meal, as it came with a miniature koala holding a boomerang, so cute! We would visit every day if we could & highly recommend this animal sanctuary as a place to support and to experience these amazing animals.
