Goodbye, Chiang Mai

Yesterday, October 16, 2018 we had our last day in Chiang Mai, Thailand. We visited the downtown area that we like so much, walked around, ate traditional street food (twice), went swimming and did a workout in the gym, and prepared to fly on to Phuket by packing. Our home here has been so nice, we thank our host, Frank for all he has done to help us. His place here has been so perfect for us, safe and pleasant. The lobby is shown in the last few pictures and the kitty looks just like P.J. our cat growing up. Above, this statue reminded us of our dog, Otto. We miss him so much, and thank Glenn for taking care of him and giving him lots of hugs. Here are some things I learned about Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai is a 700 year old city that still retains its natural charm and culture. It is known as the ¨Rose of The North¨, a land of beauty, warm hospitality and good manners. The land of fascinating, mist-shrouded mountain scenery and fertile valleys, with nearly 1, 100 Buddhist temples, the land of Thai art and handicrafts. We had ten days in this city and truly enjoyed our experience, we got to know the area, and meet people from all over the world. One man we met, Jess, said that this place just grows on a person, and you want to keep coming back. I can relate to that, as it truly reminded me of Boulder, Colorado, where I lived for 12 years. We used to say that about Boulder too. It is an enchanting place to be, so if you have a chance to visit Thailand be sure to travel North to Chiang Mai.

The description of Chiang Mai you paint makes me want to visit there! It sounds lovely.
