On Monday, October 15, 2018 we tried something new in Chiang Mai. A couple named Stewart and Dia started a business in the complex of our condo called, ¨Game Tree¨. A place where people gather to play games together. Angelina noticed the sign for the place when we were walking, it featured one of our favorite games, Siedler, on the poster. So we read on, and decided to give it a try, as we absolutely love to play games at home with our family. We began at 4:30 PM and played until 7:30 PM. Of course there is a cost, which is 30 Thai Baht per person for an hour, so this was one of our big nights out! They also serve food as we discovered later, so we got grilled cheese sandwiches to go. I really loved the idea and congratulated him on his endeavor. He also teaches English at Chiang Mai University, and his wife teaches, Biology. They are wonderful people! I had so much fun, and realized how often we play games at home and that I have been missing it. I would go again if in this city.
-Mona I really liked going to this place, it was really fun and we got to know a few people too. We first met a really nice lady named, Louisa, who introduced us to her friends, Lainie and Miro. We all played a game that Mom and I play with our family in California called Siedler. We played the English version called Settlers of Catan, which is basically the same, but in English. Mom and I (mostly Mom) explained the game to everyone and we started playing. While we were playing we got to know each one of them and we discovered that we had heard about Lainie and Miro from my Mom´s sister Katrina. Lainie started Project World School, and they have one of their bi-annual conference´s in Chiang Mai. They have been traveling for ten years! Can you believe it? It was super cool to meet them and play games again. Before that just Mom and I played Quirkle which is a cool game with shapes and colors. My Grandparents, Grannie and Papa taught us this game and we love it. They also taught us Siedler which is one of our favorites! This game place is a really cool invention they should have one of these in the USA (more specifically Colorado) and everywhere. We also realized that they serve food as well so we got some classic grilled cheese when we were finished playing our long game of Seidler.-Angelina
