Elks Lodge

Writer's picture: mnjsalsamnjsalsa

Saturday, February 1, 2020 I volunteered at my friends and her family's fraternal club called the Elks Lodge in Denver. It was a Fundraiser for the Special Olympics the meal was a steak dinner or a hot dog with a baked potato and baked beans. My friends in the group photo from left to right is Sophia (aka Lea), Gwen, Arianna, and Jacqueline. My friend Teresa is in the last photo on the left and her family owns this club. Our job as volunteers was to serve the desserts, make sure all of the tables had beverages, bus the dirty dishes to the kitchen, distribute the food, and refill drinks. It was so much fun because once we did all that we had an hour of downtime and got to have cake and steak as well because there was extra. There was a photo booth that my friends and I took pictures at (in the first row the middle picture) I am with my friend Calvin. The two pictures more to the right are of the place downstairs where most people ate there was also an upstairs where people ate too. We helped upstairs and downstairs. In the pictures you can see little kids on wooden horses it was fun because there were rows with numbers and 8 races that people bet on which horse would win. I helped this nice man called Jim with writing out the tickets for the betters. It was a good experience I got some volunteer hours for North and it was with a lot of my friends who are in the musical 9 to 5. -Angelina
