Sunday, July 21, 2019 we spotted this yearling buck just near the post office in a front yard. This is uncommon here in the urban area of the city. Up in the high country and the front range, these White-Tailed Deer are prolific and plentiful. Where I grew up, in Pebble Beach, CA we always had deer around, in the front yard, and on the golf courses, so we expected them to dart out in front of cars, etc...here we truly must be aware of the hazard traffic poses to these lovely creatures. I must say that our front yard was always being eaten by the deer (in CA) and my Dad struggled to grow a magnolia tree for years. He finally put chicken wire around that tree and still it did not thrive (probably due to the climate). Now, in Chico, CA, Dad has a gorgeous magnolia tree that resides in their front yard and is as tall as the house! Yay Dad! -Mona

That is nice you were able to see a deer. We don't have any in Chico except maybe out near the SAC River. I don't see them anyway.
