Corniglia, is set high on the steep cliff overlooking the sea. We took a shuttle to the top, as the sun was setting and we wanted to see the town while there was still light. This village was built around the IX century, and is charming with stone buildings, terraced fields and sandstone portals. The church, Chiesa di San Lorenzo, is just above the Largo Taragio square with the statue to the fallen soldiers from World War I. The view of the sea and headlands from the piazza is spectacular, and we watched the sunset from there. What a fantastic day and our host was right, it takes two days to visit all five cities along the coast. -Mona
I think this one was my second favorite because it was up high and had a spectacular view. I am so grateful to have seen these three towns, it was really fun to see them and get to know each of them have their specialties. It was easy to access them all by the train and we had to take a shuttle to get to Corniglia. -Angelina
