Chiang Mai Zoo

Today, after spending two days catching up on school work, we ventured out to the Chiang Mai Zoo. I was particularly excited to see the Panda Bears and any other unusual types of animals we might find. The enclosures were huge, especially the bird aviary, I have never seen a bird sanctuary of that size, it was truly amazing, I felt that one could get lost in there. I did have Jurassic Park thoughts a couple of times. The Pandas were so adorable, and the male and female were separated. Their enclosures looked like a best space to be in, if you had to. It was a reminder of P.E. class, where everywhere you looked there was something to play with! The white lions were very sedate when we watched them, but later I heard the male roaring fiercely from inside the bird sanctuary. Secretly, I hoped that he was being fed, and we weren't going to be in the book, Bonjour, Happy Lion. We made it to the 3:00 PM amazing animals show and it was quite fun. They featured; parrots, a Binturong, pigs, an otter, pelicans, carrier pigeons and it was performed well. Angelina got to have all three parrots sit on her shoulder, after the show! I thought that a cute little girl feeding the giraffe was one of the highlights. I love the Asian Elephant, who seemed so happy to be fed bananas on a stick, over and over. I would highly recommend this zoo for a great walking day, as it is huge. There were many locals driving their cars inside on roads, that is how big it is. It is set in the foothills of Doi Suthep Mountain, in verdant forest land and is surrounded by wild plants and flowers, streams and waterfalls. Inside this zoo, water is a major feature and the caretakers work very hard to keep it naturally beautiful.-Mona

I really loved seeing the Chiang Mai Zoo and all the unique and cute animals. My favorite animals that I saw were the Pandas and the Asian elephant. We also saw the Amazing Animal show which was really cool and I got to have a Cockatoo and two Macaws on my shoulder. Their claws were sharp but it was all worth it. We had an amazing day here! It was our first official day out. I think this exceeds first day expectations! -Angelina
