Castle dell´Ovo (Egg Castle) is a seaside castle in Naples, on the former island of Megaride, which is now a peninsula, on the Gulf of Naples in Italy. You may ask why is this castle named this? The castle´s name came from a legend about the Roman poet Virgil, who in the Middle Ages had the reputation of a sorcerer and predictor of the future. The legend states that the poet put an egg into the foundation of the castle´s fortress. If the egg had broken the castle would be destroyed and unfortunate events would have occurred all throughout Naples. Thankfully, the legend did not really happen, so we were able to visit a not destroyed castle in history. Yay! Castle dell´Ovo is the oldest standing fortification in Naples. It is said to have spectacular views from the top of it. Sadly we weren´t able to see the views because they were only showing parts of the castle that had an exhibit. It was also very windy😐. That´s okay though because the views of the castle are nice too. This was a really great way to spend our time in Naples and the coast is so pretty. -Angelina
