September 16, 2018 Angelina and I explored Brisbane, Australia. Brissie is the third largest city in Australia, with 2 million people, and the capital of Queensland. We took the red ferry, (it's the free one) from Eagle Street Pier to the South Bank Parklands. The Parklands were built on the site of World Expo '88, and have beautiful gardens, a rain-forest, restaurants, a man made beach & pool area, museums, theaters, galleries and shops. The Grand Arbor is pictured here and leads through the center of the Parklands. It is a 1km-long sculpture of 443 curled spires covered in beautiful bougainvillea. We spent a bit of time in the Queensland Museum, and learned more about the formation of the country and its' animals, birds and diverse sea life. The Nepalese Pagoda is also from the Expo '88, hand-carved in Kathmandu over a two year period, and assembled in Brisbane in just half a week. The bridge is Victoria Bridge and crosses over the Brisbane River to the Queen Street area. We are staying in Spring Hill just above, NE of that area. Our first impression was really positive, as this city is family friendly, easy to navigate and exquisite. The lizard is called an Eastern Water Dragon, and we saw several around the Parklands area. There are street performers (like Boulder, CO), and the man in gold claimed to be a master of levitation. (I think that he is a master welder & a master of patience myself).
