Today, March 13, 2019 is a snow day, no school and most businesses are closed. We lost power for awhile, and were writing letters (in dim light) and reading. It is amazing how dependent we are on the electricity, not to mention the internet. Our apartment has an electric stove and washer, so no cooking and laundry, even the gym was deserted. We got power back after an hour or so, and were overjoyed! The weather prediction was for five feet of snow, and all the school districts closed for the day. It is 26 degrees, but feels like 2. We have each taken our dog out once each, and it is quite chilly. Our windows face West, so they are almost obscured completely with snow. We have been hanging out in the lounge using the free WiFi ever since the power returned. Angelina created this wonderful drawing from one of Papa's paintings (we have a photo of it), it is happy and colorful on this snowy day! I also noticed the chandeliers more today, as they are providing light, and are modernly attractive. Not as fancy as the one in our post about the Lumiere Museum in Lyon, France, though still creative. -Mona

Today was nice to have a day of from school and sleep in! It was sort of scary to have the power out for a little bit because I almost got trapped in the elevator and the whole building went dark. The power is back up and I'm glad to be catching up on the blog. I did this drawing today because I had a lot of time on my hands when the power was down. Mom and I tried to go outside and see if any of our favorite restaurants were open like Chipotle and Pizza Alley but they were closed. -Angelina

Nature has a way of reminding us, not so gently, how little control we have and how

continually prepared we must be; while still enjoying and adding to our fondness for Colorado's complexity. Our power was out for 4 hours. Lovely artwork Angelina - waxing

crescent moon, snow covered tree-laced mountains, river(?) overlooking a rich Easter-gelled

pastel field; intrigued by the mysterious twigs peeking in from the borders as if they were

outside observers. The contrast of the vivid foreground against the subdued distant curtain

is comforting. It does show an international influence. It's nature.
