On February 1, 2021 I began a redo of our basement rental space. It is still to be completed, just a few finishing touches left, then some fortunate tenant will live there. I worked from top to bottom, and removed the ceiling tiles first with the help of Jackson (a friend, Wendy's son). We wore full coverage suits and respirators (very hot). Then I installed fiberglass insulation for sound and heat as well. Mark McLaughlin, our electrician from the DAM, came and wired canned lighting with dimmer switches in the three main rooms and new light fixtures in the kitchen, laundry and an upstairs entry way. Next, the drywall installers came, Cesar and his son did a perfect job, with texture and holes for the new lights. Joe Padilla and his son worked on all the tile; stairs, landing, hearth and the kitchen floor, counters and back splash. Our neighborhood plumber, Gilbert Vasquez, helped change out a new kitchen sink and replaced the old pipes. Then, Jerry Westergard, from the DAM connected a new gas stove (similar to the former one) and I found a small new fridge to complete the kitchen. Maynard laid the new carpet and it compliments the area nicely. My friend,Glenn Brackett, assisted me in cutting, gluing and nailing crown moulding in all the rooms to complete the look. Throughout, I have painted everything, and am glad to be mostly finished with that. I want to thank all of these individuals for all their hard work and for doing a fantastic job on our basement. We really want to live down there it is so beautiful! -Mona
